FAQ's
(frequently asked questions)
Q. My partner and I are getting married soon. How can we be sure that you will do a good job of the photography?
A. I like to get the two of you together and do a preliminary shoot for half an hour or so. If you and I are happy with how it goes, then we can start arranging for your special day.

Q. How much do you charge for a wedding?
A. This is the big question! Rates vary as to what you want supplied in the way of photographs, how long I attend on the day and/or night. There are many variables. I will talk money after meeting with you and assessing your needs. But as an indication, my base price is $1,500 for a wedding.

Q. I represent a substantial company and we need some large prints of our directors to hang in the board room, can you help? We are busy people and can't come to you.
A. I will attend to your needs at your offices or another suitable place. A lot depends on the look that you are after and this will have a bearing on where the images can be taken. I am sure that I can help you.

Q. The school I teach at is having a sports carnival and we want a photographer there to cover the various events on the day. I have heard that this may be a problem?
A. Not usually, but I must be engaged by the school to do the job and I would advise that the school informs the parents a few weeks earlier that a photographer will be attending to give them time to evaluate the situation.

Q. My team play indoor sport in a venue that doesn't have great lighting and you are not allowed to use flash, can you do anything to get some action shots?
A. I sure can. I have 2 very fast lenses especially for this kind of situation. One of these lenses on its own cost around $1,500. And no, the camera didn't come with it at that price. This is where using a professional will make all the difference as I know what equipment to use at any given venue.

Q. Is there anything that you don't photograph?
A. Yes. I will not photograph anything that could be seen as pornography, either sexual or violent. I will not photograph a young person's funeral either as death too early is a tragedy and I would see a photographer being an unacceptable intrusion at such a time. I have photographed an older person's funeral at the request of the family and had no moral problems with this as I saw it as a natural part of life.

Q. Wow, that was to the point! I like the fact that you are honest and to the point. Do you have any preferences in what you photograph?
A. I love people and the things that interest them. I have individual interests as we all do, but when it comes to photography, I strive for the best image, composure and setting that I can achieve. If you are specific in what you want, within reason, I will do my best for you.
