David Stanton is DKS Photography
This
photograph:
David stops for a minute at the conclusion of a 4 hour shoot with tennis legend and sponsored Dunlop player, Pat Rafter. (That would be David in the black shirt, the lens cap in his shirt pocket is a bit of a give away).
Ask yourself how many photos would you take in a year, a roll or two of film?
On average, David takes 1000 photos per week. He doesn't do that volume for the fun of it, it is because people keep asking him. Images are there to help us remember events in our lives. The better the image, the better the memory.
David is a natural when it comes to photography, he loves his work. Ask him anything about aperture, focal length, bokeh, digital sensor crop, the rule of thirds, just about anything at all in regard to photography and you will be surprised at how his eyes will open up wide and how long he will want to talk about these things. He even explains these and similar subjects to other photographers that haven't put the time in.
You may be surprised to know that David started out as an apprentice carpenter. He completed his trade in the seventies. He has traveled and built timber homes in NSW extensively, remote rural areas in particular. Drawing on the images that David has seen, combined with mechanical perspectives he used in plan drafting, a sense of structure, balance and wonderful composition is evident in his photography. "Whilst I still love to build when I get the chance, photography and web design are my passions."
